About Us
The Canadian Museum Of Water is dedicated to advancing water awareness through education, creativity, and engagement. We explore the vital role water plays in shaping our environment, communities, and daily lives, helping people develop a deeper understanding of its significance—today and for generations to come.
Water Is More Than a Resource — It's a Relationship

Our mission is to inspire people to see water as a relationship rather than simply a resource. Through creative exploration, interactive experiences, and meaningful engagement, we aim foster curiosity, respect, and stewardship, equipping individuals with the insight needed to make thoughtful decisions about water and the environment.
We welcome collaboration with like-minded organizations to share knowledge, exchange ideas, and expand the reach of water awareness.
“Water is our first relative, our first responsibility.”

A Living Relationship with Water
“Water is our first relative, our first responsibility.”
Dr. Priscilla Settee - scholar and Indigenous activist
In modern society, water has become increasingly out of sight and out of mind, slipping from everyday awareness and decision-making. When the systems that sustain life are no longer visible, understanding diminishes—and informed participation becomes more difficult.
The Canadian Museum Of Water's work is grounded in the belief that water is more than a commodity; it is a living relationship to be understood, appreciated, and nurtured. By revealing both the tangible and intangible dimensions of water, we encourage deeper reflection on its cultural, ecological, and social importance.
We honour and learn from Indigenous knowledge and traditions, recognizing the long-standing relationships communities have maintained with water and the lessons they offer about care, balance, and interconnectedness.
Alongside this perspective, the Museum continues its traditional role of collecting, preserving, and sharing knowledge, while contributing to a global movement working toward a more informed and water-conscious culture.
