IT COMES IN WAVES
Floating Art Installation by Ben Johnston
Little Lake Park, Midland · June – September 2026
"It Comes in Waves" is a captivating floating art installation by internationally recognized artist Ben Johnston, and the anchor feature of the Celebrate Water! Festival.
Large, powder-coated yellow letters — each 30 inches high — spell IT COMES IN WAVES. Floating on the lake, the installation drifts with the wind while solar-powered LED lights make it glow beautifully at night.
"The water breaks the phrase apart and puts it back together, reminding us that nothing is fixed and everything is always in motion."

Little Lake Park · Midland, Ontario
With IT COMES IN WAVES, I wanted to create something that reflects the rhythm of life, how experiences and emotions move in cycles. The lake isn't just a setting; it's a collaborator for this piece.
